Drip by drip to a high-yield crop

Irrigation Field Day at the Internationales DLG-Pflanzenbauzentrum, Bernburg-Strenzfeld

2018 was characterised by extreme dryness throughout large parts of Germany and beyond. The situation in 2019 was no better in many areas. Soil reserves are (almost) depleted in Saxony-Anhalt as well and the weather forecasts are gradually causing even the biggest optimists to have doubts. One more reason to find out about new irrigation systems and crops.

To achieve this, we extended an invitation to the Internationales DLG-Pflanzenbauzentrum in Bernburg-Strenzfeld on 29.05.2019.

Programme:

10:00 a.m.       Welcome and presentation of the IPZ (Siv Ahlers, DLG)

10:30 a.m.       'Soy cultivation in the dry region of central Germany'
(Stefan Gille, Anhalt University of Applied Sciences)

11:00 a.m.       'Drip irrigation in arable farming'
                       (Kai-Uwe Eisenhut, Netafim)

11:30 a.m.       'IRRIMODE - development of solar-powered drip
                       irrigation with real-time control model'
                       (Dirk Borsdorff, Irriproject)

Subsequently

A guided tour over the trial field, with subsurface drip irrigation in wheat and soy beans, will be conducted following a lunchtime snack.

Afterwards, DLG will be offering interested parties a tour of additional DLG trials focussing on soil tillage and crop rotation.
